Thank you for your interest in joining Horizon Community College. This is a truly unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the provision of secondary education and lifelong learning opportunities within Barnsley.

Once open in September 2012, Horizon Community College will be one of the largest schools in the country, set within a £46 million new build campus.

Building upon the successes and strengths of two predecessor schools (Holgate and Kingstone school), we will provide a learning environment which will open up new learning horizons to the young people and their families along with business and community groups within Barnsley.

Facilities in this new Community College will be among the very best in the country – particularly in the areas of Sport and Performing Arts, with an outstanding array of sports facilities for school and community use, a 420 seat theatre which will attract professional theatre companies from around the world, and dance and recording studios fit for professional artists. It will boast science, technology, art and creative media facilities, along with flexible learning environments, which will be the envy of schools up and down the country.

The two Vice Principals, Raising Attainment and Teaching and Learning, will be central to the success of this new school. They will drive and accelerate the outstanding provision we as a school will provide to this community.
